![]() ![]() ![]() Personal Story: It fascinates me how much warmth of brotherhood is shown when a Pakistani and an Indian meets at a third location. I witnessed you are far superior to the beauty of moon. Last night when you sprang over the terrace, All you need is to ask, “Kya Khayal Hai?”. ![]() This song is indeed a hope that that oneness in the subcontinent is imaginable. At that time, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan were all one big nation. Interestingly, it was inaugurated by King George V in 1911. It was declared as a world heritage site by UNESCO in 2017. The song and the video has been recorded at Royal Opera House in Mumbai, the only surviving Opera house in India. If you have heard this song before, I hope it gives you a fresh perspective to look back at it. This cocktail of the Indian subcontinental hymn is a fantastic ode to the rich and diverse musical history of the region. It has music from the Bangla musician Shantanu Moitra. I have added the meaning of those lines in the lyrics below the video. Interestingly, the song starts with a line from a Dari (an Afghani Language) Song. And in only 48 hours! In fact, the song is itself a conversation between a Pakistani and an Indian. It was composed by the Pakistani duo Zeb and Hinaya and Indian songwriter Swanand Kirkire.
